It's the 2012 LA WineFest!

JD and I have been gearing up for this year's LA WineFest, taking place this weekend - June 9 and 10. It's going to be big - hundreds of wines and spirits to taste, delicious food offerings, lifestyle vendors, and for those few who actually want to learn something, classes about wine and spirits, wine and cheese pairing, and more. Join the Goddess and JD!

Saturday classes include:
1:30 PM Dry Creek Valley: A Century of Great Zin
Discover the original Zin – Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel! Wine expert, Dan Fredman, will take you on an exploration of Northern Sonoma’s famed Dry Creek Valley, where Italian and Swiss immigrants have been growing world-class Zinfandel for more than a century. Taste rare and sold-out Zinfandels from top producers, such as Ridge, Wilson, Mauritson, Sbragia, Quivira, and Ferrari-Carano.

2:30 PM Artisanal Cheese & Wine Pairing
Barrie Lynn – The Cheese Impresario and Neil McNally of Rosenthal Wines will be presenting an Artisanal Cheese & Wine Pairing Adventure Seminar. This class will fill up. If you want to learn more about cheese before you get to LA WineFest, check out Barrie Lynn’s show, CHEESE RULES. Barrie Lynn tells us she and Neil have created some delicious and unusual pairings for this seminar. We can’t wait to taste what they’ve come up with! The Cheese Impresario will be presenting cheeses from the Artisan Cheesemakers of Wisconsin. Neil will be presenting wines from Rosenthal’s Malibu Estate Collection.

3:30 PM Wines of Italy and Spain
This informative seminar and tasting will enlighten your palate as you taste an assortment of wines from Italy and Spain. With international wine consultant, Mark Newman, the Million Dollar Palate.

4:30 PM Winery Owners Speak Out
Chaired by Edward Sellers;
Michael Riboli, Riboli Family Wines; Jeff Steele, Roxo Wines;  Maurice Wedell, Wedell Cellars; Mike Brown, Cantara Cellars; Joe Hurliman, Herzog Winery; and Jason Moore, winemaker of Modus Operandi and Cielo.

Sunday classes include: 
12:30 PM Scotch Tasting
Learn about the single malt making process including what separates single malts from blends as well as a scotch from other whiskies. You will try 8 different malts from different regions around Scotland. This class will be hosted by Chris Uhde, Scotch Master for the USS Highland Games Costa Mesa and Brand Ambassador for Impex Beverages and Chieftain Single Cask Whiskies. Chris has over 12 years experience in the Spirits industry.
